School Background and History

St. Veronica’s Comprehensive School is one of the largest schools in the Saboti zone, Trans-Nzoia west Sub-County. The school has the current enrollment of 967 learners drawn from Pre-primary, Primary and Junior Secondary School sections, 20 teachers and 4 support staff.

The School was founded in 1989 as a Pre-Primary School (Nursery), basically to serve the children of Chebukaka Cooperative Society Members who had attained school-going age then. The Stores belonging to the first white settler became the first classroom.

Determined to put a larger institution including Primary Section, Chebukaka Cooperative Society secured one (1) acre piece of land for the nursery school and for its future expansion. The Nursery School expanded very fast registering a bigger enrollment more than the expected projection. This motivated the Community, to elevate the school to include a primary section. Consequently, the Community donated two additional two-acre land to accommodate the growing number of learners. To date, the School has a total of three Acres of Land, which accommodates the pre-primary, Primary and Junior Secondary School (JSS). The School officially received an operating certificate from the Ministry of Education in 2018.

The School’s enrollment has been increasing at a very high rate. Some of the factors influencing the rapid increase in the school enrolment are the Child friendly environment championed by ‘Watoto Watunzwe Programme. The school has also been integrating use of ICT in the school learning processes, therefore attracting even more learners. The School discipline policy has been another major factor which is causing the high enrollment rate.

Another factor that is positive to the school is the Commitment by teacher’s and the school leadership. It is projected that, the school population will reach 1,000 learners in the first quarter of 2025.
